Astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore are finally back on earth after nine unexpected months in space.
They left earth in June 2024 for an eight day mission to test the Boeing Starliner capsule and were to spend 8 days in the International Space Station. Unfortunately the capsule suffered technical difficulties so for safety reasons NASA kept them on the International Space Station as they assessed how to get them back on earth ,hence the nine month extension.
This makes Williams and Wilmore the longest serving astronauts in space on a single mission.
The couple were all smiles as they made their way out of SpaceX Dragon.
They will be undergoing medical tests before reuniting with their families which might take about a day.
Happy to hear they are safe and well.
