BOC Kenya, a prominent gas firm in East Africa, has named Lawrence Githinji as its new Managing Director. This decision was announced by the Board of Directors on Friday, February 28, confirming that Githinji will formally assume his position on March 3, 2025.
The Board expressed strong confidence in Githinji’s extensive experience, having served in various capacities with numerous international organizations throughout different regions. They are confident that his rich background will provide valuable insights and strategic direction for BOC Kenya as the company continues to grow.
Githinji’s appointment comes after the time served by Joseph Ramashala, who had been fulfilling the role of Acting Managing Director. This transition in leadership follows the recent resignation of long-time Finance Director, Arthur Kamau, who stepped down in September 2024 after 14 years with the company.
Githinji has an impressive leadership background, possessing considerable experience from diverse sectors such as industrial, energy, medical, water, extractives, and infrastructure. Before joining BOC Kenya, he was the Managing Director of KONE Corporation, overseeing operations in Kenya and Uganda. His varied expertise is considered a significant asset for the company’s future initiatives.
As BOC Kenya embarks on this new chapter, the selection of Lawrence Githinji indicates a positive trajectory for the organization. Stakeholders are optimistic that his leadership will enhance innovation, broaden the company’s market presence, and fortify its competitive position in the East African gas and energy industries.
