King Charles III has unveiled a new music project, “The King’s Music Room,” where he curates a personal playlist of songs that have shaped his life and brought him joy. The royal has chosen tracks from a wide range of artists, including reggae legend Bob Marley, pop icon Kylie Minogue, and influential performer Grace Jones, to name a few.
In a video shared as part of the project’s launch, King Charles talks about the profound connection music has had in his life, reflecting on how it’s played a vital role in both celebrating happy moments and comforting him during difficult times. “Music has that remarkable ability to bring happy memories flooding back and lift our spirits,” the King says. “It’s an experience that unites us all, and that’s why I wanted to share these songs with you.”
The project celebrates not just personal favorites of the King but also highlights the musical diversity of Commonwealth countries. A memorable moment in the promotional trailer features the Changing of the Guard outside Buckingham Palace, with the band playing Bob Marley’s classic “Could You Be Loved.”
The full playlist will be released on Monday, in celebration of Commonwealth Day. In addition to the well-known songs from Marley and Minogue, fans can look forward to tracks from rising stars like Nigerian-American singer Davido and British singer Raye. Through this project, King Charles is offering a musical journey that speaks to the power of music to bring people together and create lasting memories.
