Kenyan socialite Manzi Wa Mombasa has revealed a deeply personal and emotional reason for naming her newborn son after the late TikTok star, Brian Chira. Chira, who tragically passed away on March 16, 2024, was laid to rest on March 27, 2024, in his home village of Ingitei, Kiambu County.
In an exclusive interview with SPM Buzz, Manzi shared how the loss of Chira deeply affected her, especially since he had no children to carry on his name. “Chira’s passing left a huge impact on us all. He didn’t have any children, and I believe when someone dies without leaving a legacy, their memory fades. That’s why I chose to name my son Chira,” she explained.
Manzi went on to reveal that her son was conceived through IVF (In Vitro Fertilization), as she exclusively dates women. To fund the procedure, Manzi made a significant personal sacrifice by selling a piece of land for KSh 600,000 and adding her own savings to cover the full cost. “I knew I wanted a baby boy, and giving him Chira’s name was my greatest wish. It was the driving force behind my decision,” she shared.
In an unexpected twist, Manzi received support from Chira’s family, particularly his grandmother, who embraced her decision with warmth and affection. “Chira’s grandmother was so kind to me. She came to see the baby, blessed him, and even cooked for me. She has really shown love and support for this child,” Manzi said, her voice filled with gratitude.
Through naming her son after Brian Chira, Manzi hopes to ensure that the late TikToker’s legacy continues to live on, leaving a lasting impact even after his untimely passing.
