The family of celebrated journalist Sophie Ikenye are appealing to well-wishers to help raise 5M medical support.
In a statement shared across social media,the family revealed that Sophie has been undergoing treatment for the last eight months in multiple medical facilities,a situation which has left them financially drained.
They have not disclosed the details of the illness yet, urging Kenyans to keep them in prayers as they navigate this difficult time.
Sophie is a veteran in the media industry having worked in KBC,Citizen and NTV Kenya respectively.
She joined BBC World service in London in 2009 presenting in the radio department on the show Focus on Africa before transitioning to the Television version in 2012.
She was named among the Most influential young Kenyans in 2016 and 100 Most influential Africans.
