Cardi B has achieved a significant victory in her defamation lawsuit against media figure Tasha K, securing a repayment agreement of $1.2 million. As reported by Rolling Stone, a judge formally approved this settlement on February 24, which details a structured payment plan where Tasha K will pay the sum in monthly installments over a period of five years. This plan addresses part of the $4 million defamation ruling that Cardi B received in 2022, although the rapper is still able to seek the remaining balance once the five years have passed.
In addition to the monetary repayment plan, Tasha K has committed to refraining from making any “derogatory, disparaging, or defamatory” statements regarding Cardi B or her family, whether it be on social media, podcasts, or other forms of media. Nonetheless, the settlement does not place similar limitations on Cardi B, granting her the right to express her views about Tasha K if she wishes.
The legal conflict began when Tasha K disseminated untrue allegations about Cardi B, including claims that the rapper had herpes, engaged in drug use, and worked as a prostitute. The court ruled in favor of Cardi B, awarding her $4 million in damages.
While this agreement resolves part of the ruling, Cardi B retains the option to pursue the remainder of the amount should Tasha K not comply with the settlement terms. This case highlights the serious legal repercussions associated with disseminating false and damaging information.
